Program Overview

This one-day Behavioral Wellness Symposium provides a focused, solution-based approach to understanding and addressing the psychological, neurological, physical, emotional, and relational impacts of stress and trauma exposure experienced by first responders.

Through a proactive, evidence-based, and practical framework, First Responders Resiliency, Inc. (FRRI) delivers education, tools, and strategies grounded in neuroscience and real-world application. This symposium is designed to equip attendees with immediately actionable techniques to support stress regulation, enhance performance under pressure, and strengthen long-term resilience—both on and off duty.

In partnership with the Oakland Fire Department, this event brings together leadership, science, and operational insight to support sustainable wellness in the first responder community.

 


Learning Objectives

  • Understand the neuroscience of stress and trauma; how the brain and nervous system respond to cumulative exposure
  • Identify evidence-based strategies that effectively support resiliency and trauma recovery
  • Learn practical tools to regulate stress responses, including breath work, mindfulness, and behavioral techniques
  • Explore methods to reduce stress-related injuries, disabilities, and burnout
  • Develop strategies to enhance performance under pressure and operational readiness
  • Strengthen awareness of how stress impacts relationships, family systems, and long-term well-being
